MATH: 2 worksheets (review of material on their benchmark test)
Reading and
Writing: students should be working on a book report; 1st book report (was
due the end of 2nd quarter) is a single sheet of paper; 2nd book
report is a box... students will bring home directions with their box
and it will be due upon their return from spring break. Our 3rd
book report will be a photo story online which will be presented
to the class the end of 4th quarter.
* Students will receive their March calendar on Tuesday. They
need to read 500 minutes for the month of March. It is due the
first three days in April.
WTW: Students will have their spelling test on Friday. Their WTW book
should be completed by Thursday and brought to school on Friday.
We will be writing our sentences for Word Sort 21 in class this
week.

WEEK of FEBRUARY 21-25
Math: students have two worksheets to complete on data and bar graphs.... placed in their HW folder. If your were absent on 2/18, you can download one math page (Bar graph and data).
Spelling: WTW 21 is written in their agenda. They should make flashcards for these words... we'll play Lo Tengo (spelling bingo) with them on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week.
Reading: students should read and record their minutes on their February calendar. It is due 2/28/11.
Also, their Six Flag Ticket form (360 minutes) is due 2/28/11. You must initial each time they read and complete the bottom of the form. No late forms will be accepted.
Science: Students should finish their Science paper.... in their homework folder.
Some students didn't return their Graded Work folder with corrected work, parent signature, and/or the signed portion of their progress report. Please return all by 2/28.
Three students didn't return their homework on 2/18. Please check your child's agenda. Our homework is very similar to what is on our tests. Homework is a good review for you to see if your child is ready to take his/her test.

Week of February 14, 2011
Math - This is our last week learning adding and subtracting 3-digits. Homework consists of 2 worksheets. After our break, we will start on measurement.
Reading- Students should be reading 20 minutes each night and recording it on their February calendar. Also, remember to notate it on their Six Flags Ticket form... they'll receive a free ticket to Six Flags for reading 360 minutes.
Science - Students have a study guide for the unit on Sun/Moon/Earth. Each section is due at a different time. Students will also draw a picture of the moon for each day from 2/14 - 3/14. This will be due 3/15. They will bring their Science Book home on Monday. They'll bring home their worksheet in their homework folder, but they can return it to school in their agenda when each section is due. We'll check their answers and they'll bring it back home to work on the next section. #1 is due tomorrow.

Week of February 07,2011
MATH: We are continuing to work with addition and subtraction of 3-digit numbers. Students have two worksheets on subtracting money. Students will need to show their work and check their answers. We’ve used decimals before… remind them to bring the decimal down in a straight line. We completed the first problem together in class.
SCIENCE: This week we are starting our project on the moon, earth, sun and stars. Some research will be completed at school this week and students will work in small groups. No homework.
READING: Students have their February Reading Calendar. They should read 20 minutes each night and write the number of minutes on the calendar. Parents will sign the bottom of the calendar fill out the total number of minutes read. Students will turn in the calendar the first week of March.
WRITING: Students will write a friendly letter to a friend using 10 of their spelling words… underline each spelling word. Students should follow the "friendly letter" format they copied in their notes.
SPELLING: First, write each word in alphabetical order. Then, write each word five times. Finally, after practicing sorting their words, students will cut and paste words on p.75 in their WTW book. We will define words and write sentences in class this week. They will take a test over these words next Monday (WTW 19).
