MATH: We are continuing to work with addition and subtraction of 3-digit numbers. Students have two worksheets on subtracting money. Students will need to show their work and check their answers. We’ve used decimals before… remind them to bring the decimal down in a straight line. We completed the first problem together in class.
SCIENCE: This week we are starting our project on the moon, earth, sun and stars. Some research will be completed at school this week and students will work in small groups. No homework.
READING: Students have their February Reading Calendar. They should read 20 minutes each night and write the number of minutes on the calendar. Parents will sign the bottom of the calendar fill out the total number of minutes read. Students will turn in the calendar the first week of March.
WRITING: Students will write a friendly letter to a friend using 10 of their spelling words… underline each spelling word. Students should follow the "friendly letter" format they copied in their notes.
SPELLING: First, write each word in alphabetical order. Then, write each word five times. Finally, after practicing sorting their words, students will cut and paste words on p.75 in their WTW book. We will define words and write sentences in class this week. They will take a test over these words next Monday (WTW 19).
