MATH: This week we will begin adding and subtracting three digits. We will work on this topic for two weeks. Homework consists of two fraction worksheets… one is a review for their fraction test which will be given this week.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Students will continue writing their report on Jackie Robinson. We should complete the rough draft on Monday, editing on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the final draft on Thursday and Friday.
SCIENCE: After we finish the report on Jackie Robinson, students will begin researching the earth, sun, moon, and stars. This will either begin on Friday or next Monday.
READING: Students will receive a February Reading Calendar. They should read 500 minutes. Parents should write the number of minutes their child reads each day, add the amount at the end of each week, and write the total and sign the bottom of the calendar. The calendar is due the first three days of March. Students can use the minutes on this calendar towards the minutes needed to earn their free Six Flags ticket.
WRITING: We are studying different types of sentences… simple, compound, complex. Students will write sentences in class and a few for homework (using spelling words)… check under SPELLING for details.
SPELLING: Studying Long U and Short U
